The problem of collection and "electrification" of information about objects of cultural heritage requires a specific customized solution. In Europe, the access to the stored information over the web became highly important.
Hugh number of different, mostly not compatible systems, should become communicative. The task of the day means unification of nomenclatures, meanings, numberings, standards, etc.
EDICO's entry project in this area was a realisation of CEMUZ, started in 2003, with main target in establishing general aspects and rules for electronic management of museum collections:
- Intensification of electronic treatment of museum collections in Slovakia
- Establishing of a central register of museum collections
- Establishing of environment for exchange of museum information via Web
Currently, the second phase of this project - ESEZ - a solution for 82 museums in Slovakia, has been finalised. Its functions consist:
- entering and editing of information
- establishment of a database with image-, audio- and multimedia information
- recording and back-up of data history
- searching and filtering criteria
- printing services
- import and export to different formats (MDB, DBF, XLS, TXT)
The first phase was successful for all participants. The main task for the next future is further development, extension and refinement of methods, techniques, and rules.
